In partnership with Dr. Norbert Goldfield of Healing Across the Divides, and Clalit Health Services, Tene Briut provides a program aimed to improve the health quality of unwell, older diabetics through series of group meetings, and to encourage family members to make healthy lifestyle changes through the delivery of diabetes prevention education.
Clalit local clinic doctors refer Ethiopian patients with unstable diabetes and poor health quality to the program. Amharic speaking health instructors deliver a series of health lectures covering vital issues such as glucose testing, compliance with medication, diet and nutrition, and the importance of regular physical exercise. Lectures and group support meetings are held at the local Clalit clinic and participants receive ongoing encouragement to adopt healthy lifestyle habits in order to improve their quality of health.
